IRC turns 30
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) turns 30 years old. Born at Oulu University's Department of Computer Sciences in 1988, Jarkko Oikarinen developed one of the Internet's first real-time messaging services as a summer job side project. It has played a pivotal role in the birth of the Internet's chat culture. Today, 30 years after launch, IRC still has a devoted user base. Here's to wishing IRC another 30 years!

Privacy Policy Improvements
This month, we're updating our Privacy Policy to make it easier for you to understand what information we collect, and why we collect it. Nothing is changing about your current settings or how your information is processed. Rather, we've improved the way we describe our practices and how we explain the options you have to update, manage, export and delete your data.
We've made these updates as new data protection regulations (GDPR) come into effect in the European Union, and have taken this opportunity to make improvements for DareNET users around the world.
